I apply computers to analyze and understand biological processes. My research interests are to recognize patterns in molecular levels which are responsible for variation in phenotypic level using machine learning methods.

I completed my PhD from CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi. The new high throughput technologies have successfully sequenced a large number of proteins whose functions are unknown. In my PhD, I developed a machine learning application, Pro-Gyan, to build models from experimentally classified proteins and characterize these proteins. Further we used this tool to build new classifiers for mitochondrial proteins, nuclear receptors, chaperone dependent proteins and classified about 1100 bacterial proteome.

I joined Professor Jukka Jernvall’s lab, University of Helsinki as a postdoctoral researcher in 2014. I will be integrating the molecular data generated from miscellaneousexperiments and identifying patterns to understand tooth development.
